BGC AWARDS GRANTS TO LOCAL NONPROFITS
The Bloomington Garden Club (BGC) recently awarded grants totaling more than $10,000 to five local organizations. The grants are awarded annually from funds raised through the BGC’s summer Garden Walk, which has been held annually since 1990.
To qualify for funding, projects must advance the BGC’s purpose: to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening; to aid in the protection of native trees, plants and birds; and to encourage civic planting and beautification. The BGC especially supports youth gardening as a way to encourage children to develop a love of the land and horticulture as well as be good stewards of the planet for future generations. Recipients must be nonprofit organizations.
