Each year on one weekend in June the Bloomington Garden Club organizes its annual Summer Garden Walk, open to the public with the gracious support of local garden owners who prepare and make their gardens available. Gardens, open on specified hours on both Saturday and Sunday, are especially chosen for their plant selection, design, and appeal.
As visitors enter this plant lover’s garden, they immediately notice the cheerful colors and artful arrangement of perennials, shrubs, and evergreens. Clever planting design and meandering paths create a garden wonderland. Be sure to bring your camera!
A series of stunning garden spaces are filled with well-chosen trees, flowers, and sculptures, all linked by meandering paths. As visitors wander, they are treated to colorfully arranged garden beds, each with interesting plant combinations.
A well-planned, smaller garden space offers a wealth of plant selection and placement ideas for both sun and shade plants as well as a place to relax. The overall ambiance is cheerful and inviting, providing enjoyment that invites lingering.
With abundant planting, ranging from large trees to colorful native perennials and annuals as well as kitchen vegetables, this garden offers the joy and beauty of garden dreams come true. Enjoy sounds of water splashing and birds singing among well designed and colorful garden beds.
A broad walkway bordered with flowers spirals throughout the garden. Imaginative garden art created by the owner adds many surprises as visitors wander. Annuals planted among perennials, shrubs, and trees provide summer-long color. Zinnias of all types and colors, grown from seed by the owner, enliven the long back yard beds with color and movement.
An inviting shady backyard garden with ample yard and deck seating is inviting for entertaining or for just relaxing. Sounds of running water and seasonal chirps, as well as colorful and unusual shade plants sheltered by several trees, complete the relaxing design.
