Each year on one weekend in June the Bloomington Garden Club organizes its annual Summer Garden Walk, open to the public with the gracious support of local garden owners who prepare and make their gardens available. Gardens, open on specified hours on both Saturday and Sunday, are especially chosen for their plant selection, design, and appeal.
Descriptions of 2023 Gardens:
Especially designed to showcase both natural and man-made features, an intriguing larger garden offers very different views at every turn. One section’s design centers on a fountain, and another features remarkable sculptures. Enter other portions and enjoy contrasting and harmonizing plants and unique tree collections.
A smaller garden featuring winding paths among native Indiana plants and trees has a special charm all its own, one any homeowner may emulate. This garden provides inspiration for new as well as experienced gardeners to search out and feature native perennials and trees and to create enticing original garden designs.
Raised flower beds, eye-catching trellises, and unusual plant containers, each used as homes or supports to charming collections of pollinator-friendly plants, invite visitors to wander, relax, and enjoy the ambience of this special place. Colors and layout contribute to visitors’ pleasure.
A love for the unusual in both design and plant choices highlights this garden. A mix of uncommon annuals interspersed with shrubs and trees not often grown in our area produces an appealing garden, one you’ll especially want to see.
Tucked away behind year-round green foliage, this garden surprises with an artful array of selected colorful annuals, perennials, and shrubs interspersed with well-chosen boulders and trees. These gardeners adapted their unique design to incorporate uneven landscape and to produce arresting views.
