Work of the Bloomington Garden Club
The Bloomington Garden Club supports children’s gardening programs and civic planting and beautification projects. Since the inception of the club’s Annual Summer Garden Walk in 1990, 100% of the money raised through the Garden Walk has been distributed through grants to nonprofit civic organizations for education and beautification. None of the money raised through our Annual Garden Walk is used by the Bloomington Garden Club for expenses.
Mission
The Bloomington Garden Club’s mission is to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening; to aid in the protection of native trees, plants, and birds; and to encourage civic planting and beautification.
Club History
The Bloomington Garden Club, a 501(C)4 organization, began on September 27, 1938, in Bloomington, Indiana, with six charter members. Today, the active membership totals forty.
To become a member of The Bloomington Garden Club, one is elected to membership in the club via a process that begins with a recommendation from two current members. To remain an active member after joining, a member pays yearly dues, assumes individual and financial responsibilities for Garden Club-sponsored activities and events, and attends meetings regularly.
